Purnululu to El Questro

Monday, 17 May 2026 Reading in bed last night, before turning the light out, I started getting cramps in my hamstrings. First one leg and then, just when I managed to stretch it out, cramp in the other leg. Aargh! I haven’t been having cramps like this since before we left home. It must’ve been […]

Purnululu – Day 3

Sunday, 17 May 2026 This morning when we woke it was oppressive and overcast and there was still the threat of rain. Bronwen and Lisa decided to cut their stay here short by a day because of concern about the rain and the possibility of being trapped out here in the wilderness. We were also

Purnululu – Day 2

Saturday, 16 May 2026 Yesterday evening we were serenaded by owls which we thought were, perhaps, boobook owls? There were also some other nocturnal birds calling during the night. This morning we were woken by the owls calling again, and all the diurnal birds – including sulphur-crested cockatoos and little corellas – starting their day.

The first between Erldunda and Alice Springs (197 kilometres) and

Litchfield – Day 2

Saturday, 9 May 2026 Seeing as we showered late yesterday, and we were planning some wild swimming today, we decided to skip showers this morning, dress, eat and go. We started out driving back into the park towards Tolmer Falls. Passing a sign we noted that Wangi Falls was only 10 kilometres beyond Tolmer Falls.
